THRESHOLDS CONTRACT
FOR VOLUNTEERS
WHAT I, AS A VOLUNTEER, CAN EXPECT FROM THRESHOLDS
- Approximately 15 hours of initial training, prison orientation and follow-up
- A respectful response to all of my questions about the program
- A quick response to any problems: scheduling, attendance, client loss,
personality conflicts, personal emergencies, etc.
- A continuing upgrade of Thresholds materials
- Additional opportunities and a variety of ways for me to serve
- Thresholds will continue to function and to serve the community by teaching
decision-making to inmates
WHAT THRESHOLDS CAN EXPECT FROM ME, AS A VOLUNTEER
- INTENTIONALITY: To begin my first session with a Micro client within 60
days
of receiving my Micro Teacher Certificate, to arrive for my sessions
on time, be prepared,
cover the material, abide by the signed THRESHOLDS TEACHER/
CLIENT CONTRACT,
and commit to teaching the full teaching cycle.
- RESPONSIBILITY: To communicate with the Executive Director or Cycle Coordinator
about
progress, Micro and Macro times, completion of cycle and availability
for new clients; to follow any
directives issued by prison personnel and to
report any problems to the Executive Director; to avoid
entanglements with
the client such as giving gifts, making phone calls, providing references,
carrying messages,
and continuing the relationship.
- COMPETENCE: To learn the subject matter as presented,
to practice and incorporate
the Thresholds concepts and methods into my teaching; to take advantage of
workshops
and other training opportunities, and to progress toward other teaching
levels.
- COMMITMENT: To commit to the concepts, principles, and ethics of Thresholds,
and to consider additional
opportunities to serve within the organization.
- I understand that failure to comply with the above expectations may result
in my dismissal from Thresholds in Delaware County.
